Tech job moves – Nutanix, Wiise, Datacom and Cerby – SecurityBrief New Zealand

We round up all job appointments from November 21-25, 2022, in one place to keep you updated with the latest from across the tech industries.
Cerby (US)
Creator of the Zero Trust Security Model, John Kindervag, has joined cybersecurity startup Cerby as an advisor.
In this role, Kindervag will help the company focus its efforts on some of the greatest dangers in the IT universe. 
"As the creator of Zero Trust, I'm always on the lookout for disruptive technologies that make it easier to architect Zero Trust environments," Kindervag noted.
"Step one in implementing Zero Trust is to define the Protect Surface, which contains a single data type, asset, or application. But as the landscape gets overrun with unmanageable applications, it becomes very difficult to manage and protect. Cerby brings these new application types into the Zero Trust world this innovative technology makes the unmanageable easily manageable. I'm honoured that they've asked me to join their team as an advisor."
Kindervag served for more than eight years as VP and principal analyst on the Security and Risk team at Forrester Research and earned industry-wide recognition for his development of the Zero Trust model. His work has appeared in numerous research papers and has been covered by outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Bloomberg, Forbes, CNBC, and Fox News. 
He also served as field CTO at Palo Alto Networks, advising public and private sector organisations on ways to solve their toughest cybersecurity challenges. He currently serves as senior VP of cybersecurity strategy at ON2IT and as Group Fellow of ON2IT Cybersecurity. He has headlined many security conferences and events, including the RSA Conference, SXSW, ToorCon, ShmoCon, InfoSec Europe, and InfoSec World.

Datacom (NZ)
Phill Patton has announced he will lead the Datacom NZ Auckland Enterprise sales team.
Patton announced on LinkedIn this week that he will exit retirement to take on the role.
"Some of you said I was too young to retire, some said the kids would drive me back to work inside 3 months, close but not close enough. I have had the most amazing 11 months, an experience I could never replicate but an experience that has now come to an end," the post states.
"I am thrilled to say that I have joined Datacom New Zealand leading the Auckland Enterprise Sales team. I am looking forward to working with the Datacom team and helping Customers move their Business and IT agenda forward through innovation and an ability to deliver on the promises made."

FM Global (US)
FM Global is announcing that Andrew Bryson has been promoted to SVP, Engineering and Research.
Bryson first joined FM Global in 1995 and will now have global responsibility for FM Approvals, an international leader in third-party testing and certification of property loss prevention products and services.
He holds a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering from the University of Reading, UK, and began his career as a systems engineer at Gardline Geosciences Ltd. He first joined FM Global in 1995, serving in a number of engineering and underwriting roles before moving on to risk management functions at GlaxoSmithKline and Cobham plc. 
In 2016, Bryson returned to FM Global and assumed the role of London operations engineering manager before being promoted to his previous position.
He succeeds Brion Callori, who will retire on Dec. 31, 2022 after 37 years of service with FM Global.
Forsta (APAC)
Forsta has tapped a new Sydney-based leader to bolster and expand its presence in the APAC region.
Henry Pooley, a SaaS specialist and former COO at Fraedom (which was acquired by Visa) and Director at American Express, is joining to lead Forstas continued growth in the region.
Based in Sydney, Pooley will further strengthen Forsta's position and growth across the APAC region.

Prior to joining Forsta, Pooley was the Chief Commercial Officer at Fraedom (acquired by Visa), where he was instrumental in transitioning Fraedoms commercial business into Visa. He also worked in various Director roles at American Express for over nine years, where he oversaw the growth of key regions, including Australia and the United Kingdom.

Mobiquity (APAC)
Four new senior hires have bolstered the Sydney-based APAC team under the helm of Gustavo Quiroga.
Kendall Evans has been appointed as the company's new Head of Financial Services, joining from Trade Ledger where she previously held the role of Head of Sales. 
With over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Evans will call upon her extensive knowledge to support the delivery of digital services to Mobiquity's growing clients across the financial services and payments sector.
Financial services heavyweight Michael Elphinstone has also joined Mobiquity as the company's Senior Delivery Manager in APAC. Elphinstone joined from Commbank, where he was the Head of Client Integration and Transition responsible for delivering strategy to support the digital transition of complex transaction banking customers across SME, corporate and institutional sectors. Prior to this, he was the Head of Client Implementation and Onboarding at Westpac, responsible for all new transactional business in the institutional bank.
The new hires build on Mobiquity's appointment of Joe Zachariah, ex-McKinsey Associate Partner, who has taken a lead role in the company as APAC Digital Delivery Director. McKinsey is responsible for leading strategic delivery programs for Mobiquity and brings additional experience from Delterra, Goldman Sachs and Tata Consultancy Services, where he has spent more than two decades delivering at-scale digital transformation projects for financial services companies in the region.
Sunando Mukherjee, has also been welcomed to the Mobiquity team in APAC, joining as Senior Solution Architect. He joined Mobiquity from Commbank, where he held the role of Solution Architect and prior to that was a Technology Architect at AMP.
Mobiquity General Manager for APAC, Gustavo Quiroga says the new hires are a welcome addition to Mobiquitys local team and will play a large part in supporting the company's growth in the region.

Osherov will oversee the complete customer journey, drive business growth, and further increase collaboration across the company.
This significant move and establishment of the CRO organisation will ensure that from the moment a customer begins using and throughout their growth trajectory, their experience is seamless.
Osherov will oversee all customer-interacting parts of the company, amounting to over half of the global team, including consulting / sales, customer experience, marketing, customer success, and partners. The need for this newly created role is a result of momentous growth for as a whole, to ensure that teams are working efficiently and collaboratively across departments.
"My last five years at have shown me the incredible impact that the platform has on workers around the world and with this exciting next step, I look forward to helping accelerate our momentum even further," says Osherov.

Osherov joined in 2017, bringing with him over 15 years of experience, as the company's VP of Sales. The company says he played an integral role in the growth of the company's sales group, taking it from fewer than ten people to several hundred team members today. 
Over the past two years, he has also been overseeing the marketing team across the organisation, as the company scaled from a startup to a global public company, and through a successful IPO.

N4L (NZ)
Crown technology company, Network for Learning (N4L) welcomes two new directors, Ming-chun Wu and Elle Archer, to its Board. The company says these appointments add to the diversity of the N4L Board and bring additional knowledge of and relationships within the broader education ecosystem.
The appointments follow the retirement from the Board of Deputy Chair, Dame Karen Poutasi, DNZM.
A qualified teacher with past experience in the Ministry of Education, Wu works as a public sector consultant, specialising in relationship and stakeholder management. 
She also has a depth of experience in the public sector, having previously held senior management roles at Te Puni Kōkiri / Ministry for Māori Development, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) and other Government departments.
Archer has extensive governance and strategic foresight skills and experience, with 15 years spent in development, delivery, maintenance, and review of technology-based services, and digital transformation projects.
Archer is currently Chair of Te Matarau, The Māori Tech Association; Kaiārahi Iwi Digital Strategies; Chair of Canterbury Regional Digital Equity Joint Committee; Board Trustee for Ako Ōtautahi, Learning City Christchurch; and a board member of GovHack NZ 2022. She currently works as a Senior Consultant at ELG Global, as well as presenting and lecturing at the Centre for Entrepreneurship, University of Canterbury.

Nutanix (ANZ)
Nutanix ANZ has appointed Monique Hyndman as Channel and Alliances Senior Manager, and Aaron Kelly as Distribution Sales manager. Monique and Aaron will work closely with Matt Maw, Nutanix's Head of Channels in A/NZ, to strengthen Nutanix's local channel program and expand partner support.
Hyndman joins with pedigree running and building a channel ecosystem. Prior to her last role at Clear Dynamics as head of Partnerships, where she built the company's local channel business from the ground up, Hyndman served as Red Hat's A/NZ Channel manager.
 With responsibility over Nutanix's NSW and New Zealand managed partners, Hyndman says her goals are to strengthen the partner ecosystem, accelerate go-to-market, and increase partner profitability.
"Once a customer has implemented Nutanix, the opportunity for the partner to expand the value they deliver is huge," she said. "With this in mind, I want to help reseller partners become even more strategic, rather than transactional, in their engagements."
Kelly also joins with extensive channel experience, having previously held the role of Partner manager at NEXTDC. He will be responsible for managing the region's portfolio of distributors – Ingram Micro and Dicker Data – and strengthening advocacy in the broader channel.
Kelly said, "We are so much more than hyperconverged infrastructure now. Continuing to educate partners and customers on the Nutanix hybrid multicloud platform will help unlock immense opportunity for them."
Maw said, "On both sides of the Tasman, customers are looking for vendor and partner alliances that address the bigger picture – technology solutions made to serve business issues.
"Monique and Aaron's combined experience on both sides of the channel will give our partners the support they need to deliver even better business outcomes to customers."
Thinxrta (APAC)
Carineh Grigorian has been appointed as the new Marketing Director at Thinxtra. Grigorian joins with 20 years of experience in the IT, real estate development and financial services sectors, specialising in channel marketing.
The majority of Grigorian's career has been with Arrow/Distribution Central, where she built a marketing team that delivered channel and marketing programs for its partners. 
The company says she will play a critical role in the evolution of Thinxtras marketing strategy to support our expanding commercial and channel partnerships.
Vertiv (ANZ)
Vertiv has announced Vai Le as associate channel director for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Heading up strategic direction across Vertiv's IT, mechanical and electrical, and distribution divisions, Le will be responsible for building on existing alliances and creating new awareness across the A/NZ channel ecosystem.
Serving the ANZ technology channel for more than 20 years, the company says Le has a proven ability to establish growth opportunities with reseller partners and alliance partners and working cross-functionally across organisations to reduce departmental silos and promote channel confidence. 
Le joins Vertiv ANZ from Emersion Systems, where he led the billing automation platform's go-to-market channel strategy across the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to that, Le rebuilt Asus' channel business and established the company's first telecoms partnership with Singtel and Optus, distributing entertainment devices to Australian and Singaporean households.   
"Beyond the explosion in consumer IoT devices, Australia and New Zealand's growing demand for computing power also resides with the business world's investment in data-driven decision-making and automation," says Le. 
"As quicker data distribution and lower latency demands intensify, cloud-first strategies are shifting course and companies are looking for processing power at the edge. VikingCloud (UK)
Dallas-based Ben Peters joined VikingCloud on 1 November from VPay Inc, where he was Chief Operating Officer. Prior to VPay, Peters held executive positions at FleetOne Holdings and IOD Inc. where he was instrumental in the success of both businesses.
Commenting on the announcement, Peters says, "I'm delighted to be working with Robert McCullen and the rest of the VikingCloud team on the next part of the company's exciting journey. Wiise (ANZ)
Stephen McNulty has been appointed as the COO of Cloud ERP platform, bringing his nearly 25 years of experience to Wiise as it ramps up for major growth in 2023.
The company says McNulty brings to the role extensive experience in the tech industry and a proven track record of growing technology companies. His previous leadership positions include ANZ Enterprise Country Manager for Apple, Head of Sales at Avanade, and Chief Growth Officer at Haventec. He holds a Masters in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Queen's University Belfast.
As COO, McNulty will be responsible for scaling Wiise's commercial operations as the business rapidly grows to meet demand. He will also spearhead Wiise's new partner program, to go live in early 2023.
"Wiise is one of Australia's most exciting tech startups and I am thrilled to be joining the company as COO.
