In 2023 Social Security beneficiaries will receive a bigger amount to adjust to inflation.
As the year comes to an end, Social Security beneficiaries are nearing an increase in the amount of money they receive monthly, due to the Cost Of Living Adjustment or COLA, which adjusts to inflation and the rise in price for every day goods and expenses.
This way beneficiaries aren’t left with a check that doesn’t cover their expenses, but for a couple of weeks, they’ll still receive their check on the Wednesday that corresponds to their birthdate.
All Social Security payments go out on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of each month.
People whose birth date falls between the 1st and 10th of the month got their payment on November 9, while birth dates falling between the 11th and the 20th of the month got it on November 16.
Today, Wednesday November 23, the fourth of the month, birth dates that fall between the 21st and the 31st of the month will get their payment.
If you haven’t received your Social Security payment for November and your payment date was in the weeks past, you can contact the Social Security Administration at 800-772-1213 and talk to a representative to get the issue sorted out.
The SSA asks beneficiaries to wait at least three working days before contacting them, as sometimes it’s just about a minor delay in the postal service.
