Brighton-based online publisher of the UK’s premier news and information site for journalists, Journalism.co.uk, seeks a training, marketing and directory manager. The role will be remote working but location in or within easy travelling distance from Brighton will be an advantage.
The primary function of this role is to run Journalism.co.uk’s training program (open and in-house courses, usually held online). This involves: managing a team of existing freelance journalism trainers and sourcing new ones; regularly reviewing and adding new courses to our portfolio; and marketing them using social media and direct mail.
The marketing function involves: writing and scheduling social media posts in HootSuite; curating and building our contacts database (Daylite); and writing, designing and sending regular mailers. You will also be marketing Journalism.co.uk’s other activities including our events and our directory of freelance advertisers.
The management of our freelance directory involves growing it and processing new listings.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of the journalism industry, an understanding of the challenges facing journalists, and have plenty of contacts within the industry. They will be creative, meticulous with a close attention to detail and have excellent writing and graphic design skills.
Tools you would be expected to master if you have not already include: HootSuite, Photoshop and/or Canva, Tweetdeck, Daylite (CRM software). Social media platforms we are currently active on include Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Telegram; we are keen to expand to others including TikTok so a mastery of short-form video content would be a bonus.
